John A. Catsimatidis
John A. Catsimatidis is Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of United Metro Energy Corp. He is Chairman of the Board, Chief Executive Officer, President, and the founder of Red Apple Group, Inc., which is a holding company for a number of his businesses, including United Refining Company, Gristedes Foods, Red Apple Supermarkets, and United Riverhead Terminal, Inc.
J. Nelson Happy
Nelson Happy is Vice Chairman of United Metro Energy Corp. As an attorney, Nelson has provided advice to scores of public and private corporate clients on a wide variety of legal issues including labor and employment, securities, contracts, negotiations, financing, environmental regulations, risk management and aviation. He has successfully prosecuted and defended many tort and commercial litigation matters. Mr. Happy has also been the managing partner of two law firms and CEO of three public companies and three private companies. He is a former law school professor and dean. Nelson has a JD from Columbia University School of Law and a BS from Syracuse University.
Daniel M. Gianfalla
Daniel M. Gianfalla is President and Chief Operating Officer of United Metro Energy Corp. He has been in the petroleum industry for over 30 years. He earned a BS degree from the United States Merchant Marine Academy, Kings Point, NY, and accepted a commission as a U.S. Naval Reserve Officer. Mr. Gianfalla is a Master Mariner and sailed on ocean-going tankers for many years with Exxon Shipping Co. He joined Tosco Corporation in 1993 and later served as Vice President of Tosco Pipeline Company. Following the merger of Tosco and Phillips Petroleum, he held a number of management positions in both ConocoPhillips and Phillips 66 Co., overseeing petroleum distribution and pipeline operations on the U.S. East Coast.
John G. Vonglis
John G. Vonglis is Chief Financial Officer of United Metro Energy Corporation and Senior Vice President, Finance of Red Apple Group. Previously, he was with The Hudson Group, a boutique advisory firm. From 2002 until 2009 he was a Presidential appointee at the U.S. Department of Defense where he culminated his service as both the acting Assistant Secretary for Financial Management and Comptroller (CFO), and Chief Management Officer (CMO), of the U.S. Air Force. His extensive private sector experiences include leadership positions with consulting, technology, aerospace, venture, and financial services firms. John received BS and MBA degrees from Fordham University, and an MIPP degree from The Johns Hopkins University. He is also a commissioned officer in the U.S. Army Reserve.
Anthony F. Valente
Anthony Valente is Vice President, General Counsel, and Corporate Secretary of United Metro Energy Corp. He has more than 15 years of legal experience in commercial litigation, environmental litigation and permitting, lending, commercial transactions, real estate, labor and employment law and corporate governance. Michael A. Scafura is Financial Controller and Human Resource Manager of United Metro Energy Corp. with a combined 30 years of experience in corporate, operational and public accounting. He received his NYS CPA license after earning his BS in Accounting at Long Island University, C.W.Post , Brookville, NY. Prior to Michael’s recent 9 years in the petroleum industry he has held positions as Director of Financial Reporting and Division Controller for 16 years in a multi-national services company that included in experience in Aviation, Entertainment and Building Services. His public accounting experience was with a medium sized Long Island, NY CPA firm which has since merged to be part of WeiserMazars LLP.
Robert Leavy is the Director of Energy, Supply and Distribution for United Metro Energy Corp.- he has over 25 years of extensive experience in the energy industry. Primarily, Robert's responsibility involves trading United Metro’s product inventory in order to hedge and protect it against market volatility. Additionally, Robert is responsible for securing supply contracts for gasoline, distillates, natural gas, and residuals as well as managing all aspects of the natural gas business at our affiliate United Metro Energy Service Corp. Robert’s other responsibilities include oversight and management of large municipal and corporate fuel contracts, wholesale business, fixed price contracts and high profile sales. Tony Camodeo has been working in the motor and marine fuels department for over fourteen years and was promoted to Manager of Motor Fuels in November 2009. Tony regularly educates consumers on the benefits of using United Metro’s cleaner diesel fuels, including biodiesel and ultra-low sulfur diesel. Ed Abreu has been Supervisor of Customer Service since 2008 and has worked in the customer service field for the past 5 ½ years. Motie Prashad has spent over 30 years in the energy business, 14 as Service Manager. Motie holds numerous industry certifications including HVAC, NORA (National Oilheat Research Alliance) Silver and Gold certification, a license for installations in Westchester, Nassau, and Suffolk counties, and other parts of New York, and he is an associate Board Member for NYOHSMA (New York Oil Heating Service Manager Association). Motie helped introduce biofuels to United Metro, due to his membership at the Air Resources Group. As the Terminal Operator / Supervisor, Jack Spaight has a large scope of responsibilities that encompasses everything from supervising United Metro’s union drivers, the shop and mechanics, dispatch, delivery, and safety and compliance. Jack's safety and compliance duties include ensuring that United Metro’s drivers operate safely and efficiently within the DOT / FMCSA rules and regulations as they pertain to a hazardous material trucking environment, emergency response, and driver training.
